Zamalek coach Josefaldo Ferreira has confirmed the team’s goalkeeper Mohamed Awad played his goalkeeping role after saving two penalties, noting that the Aswan game physically consumed the white team.

Zamalek SC qualified for the final of the Egyptian Cup last season (20202021) after beating Aswan with a score of (21).

Ferreira said in statements at the press conference: “Zamalek played a good second half, and the match was like a table tennis match, and Aswan played through the physical contact method, and so they got shots on goal.”

He added: “The match exhausted the team physically and we were playing other football, and the important thing is that we reached the final of the Egyptian Cup, and there is a match in the new cup that will be before the final.”

And the Zamalek coach continued: “It will be a difficult period because the players will be consumed with the Egyptian national team during the international break, and I don’t understand the reason for organizing the match schedule in this way.”

He explained: “The Egyptian national team has the right to play its matches, but it is difficult to organize club matches directly, and the players don’t have time to recover.”

He continued: “Playing with 3 players in the center of defense was a surprise in the first half and we missed many chances.”

He continued: “We played a good game in the first half, scored two goals and of course the loss of the last two league games had an impact on the team.”

Ferreira concluded his statements: “Awad played his goalkeeping role and saved two penalties in today’s game.”
